Give thanks and be a positive force with 7 types of emails

Updated: Jun 24

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and I have been thinking about an article I really enjoyed by Michael Thompson @Forge (https://forge.medium.com/the-7-emails-you-should-send-every-week-to-get-ahead-in-your-career-2358f8451ef9)

We need holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas etc... to remind us of all the reasons to be thankful. Most of us don't realize how good we have it. Taking a moment each day to remember, can help put your stresses in perspective and hopefully melt them away completely.

Here are 7 emails Michael Thompson suggest you write.

  1. An email saying “thank you” (be the positive person that's admired)

  2. An email to someone you admire (allies inside your company and outside)

  3. An email lifting someone up (be the leader to someone a few steps behind you)

  4. An email to someone you just met (expand your perspective through people that do very different things)

  5. An email to an old co-worker (remember the good times and stay connected)

  6. A Thursday afternoon email to your boss (status update and course change requests)

  7. A Friday afternoon email to yourself (successes of the week, things learned)

Not only will this help you be more thankful but will also help you be a positive force. Image everyone does this paying it forward. Perhaps it will be enough to bring us all closer together and propel us forward as a society. While this isn't natural for me to do, it is something that resonates with my philosophy and aspirations. Having this organized as a repeatable process will hopefully help me turn this into a positive habit.

I hope you will give it a try and let's see if we can make someone's day a little brighter.
